15th April, Sunday — Reblog7th April, Saturday — Reblog“I thought you wanted to be a scientist,” I challenged at last.
“I’d rather be a pirate,” Sherlock responded.
I couldn’t think of a way to argue against that, really, though it did surprise me. I don’t think you’ll find a young boy on Earth who could argue against the desire to be a pirate, so I didn’t try. Instead, I just said, “Me too,” and grinned.
That time, when I smiled at Sherlock, imagining the two of us, pirates, in pirate clothes, standing on a pirate ship with our cutlasses and, of course, a parrot, he smiled back. Of all the things in our conversation so far, this was the biggest surprise: it was the first time in our acquaintance in which Sherlock had seemed to me like he was really ten years old, and not a grown up stuck in the body of a very serious, small boy. - A Study in Dandelion (x)
